PROCEDURE
How competitor research works
STEP 01
Give it seed keywords
Three or four terms describing your category and market is enough.
STEP 02
Competitors are confirmed
The job identifies which companies repeatedly appear across that keyword set — the ones actually competing, not the ones with the biggest brand.
STEP 03
Coverage is measured
How many terms each competitor ranks for, so the list arrives ordered by real footprint.
STEP 04
The gap report lands
Terms they cover and you do not — the shortest route to a content plan that is not guesswork.
OUTPUT
What lands in your workspace
- A confirmed competitor set for your market
- Term coverage per competitor
- A gap report of terms you are absent from
- An exportable report you can hand to a writer or an agency
AFTER THE JOB
And then what
Results save into folders you can filter, tag and share with your team. From there you can export to CSV, or move the list straight into an email campaign that sends from your own verified domain — with the replies landing in a shared inbox rather than one person's mailbox.
Access is granted one tool at a time, so a teammate can hold competitor research and nothing else. See the full feature list for how permissions, folders and the vault fit together.
OPERATOR'S DESK
Competitor research questions
Why does the list not match the competitors I named?
Because search competitors and commercial competitors are different sets. The companies capturing your buyers' searches are often smaller and more focused than the brands you benchmark against — and they are the ones taking the traffic.
Can I run this per country?
Yes. A competitor set is market-specific, and running the same seeds against different markets is one of the more useful things you can do with it before an expansion.
